This morning was a morning of introductions....sometimes it was hard to keep everything straight. However, it was SUCH an exciting morning as we welcomed many MANY new moms, new steering team members and some new mentor moms....some new to the area, some brand new moms, some more experienced moms but who had never been a part of a MOPS group! Whoever you are, whether this is your very first meeting, or you have years of MOPS under your belt, we are so glad to have you in our group.
Our children in the MOPPETTS classes did very well today! There were a few tears with drop-offs (even with those of us who have done this many times....kids will be kids!), but our MOPPETTS workers are such wonderful trained individuals! My boys both enjoyed the puppet times they had today. One son screamed in delight while the other son said "well, that was nice, but they were a little bit creepy." :) Our hope is that throughout this year as we are getting "filled up" and enjoying time with other mothers who are in our same station in life, that our children will also be enjoying getting to know some new friends, and also learning about the God that we serve as well, in an age-appropriate and fun way! Thank you to all you amazing workers who do us such a great service every single MOPS meeting. You go above and beyond and you are such a blessing to us all!
Our Women Ministry Leader came in for a brief devotional. She shared the verse for the year, which leads to our theme "Plunge: Love as if your life depended on it." I Peter 4:7-11 says:
Love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless-cheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God's words; if help, let it be God's hearty help. That way, God's bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and He'll get all the credit as the One mighty in everything- encores to the end of time. Oh, yes!
Our steering team shared one way that they are "plunging in" this year. Some ways included:
being open to building relationships
clearing schedules to accommodate the deepening of friendships
building upon a growing relationship with the Lord
admitting that we are all not perfect; allowing ourselves to fail and realizing that God gives grace
As we gear up for this year, our prayer is that we will all think of ways that we can deepen our relationships- with new friends, existing friends, husbands, family, children and the Lord. As a steering team, we are so EXCITED to build a relationship with YOU. You are not alone.
If you did not make it to our meeting this time, we pray that life will allow you to make it next time. We did a craft today (which will be another post), and we have supplies for you. Make sure and get with your DGL to get the supplies!

ReplyDeleteI realized after the meeting was over that in my haste I forgot to mention what I am Plunging into this year during my introduction. I feel like my husband and I have been Plunging for 3 years now. Since we became parents there have been many life changes all of which have come from a desire to live intentionally. How and what we eat, how we spend our time, how we think, how we are trying to raise our girls...all of this has been part of the journey. The most recent thing though (and what I would say I am plunging into right now) is my husband's job shift as he left a 7 year career at Sandia Labs this past summer to pursue self employment. We get to have daddy home a lot more often and our family enjoys great flexibility with this new schedule. Now we just have to figure out how he is actually going to manage to get work done at home during the day! Lol. It's always a process right?
